Archive, restore, and move projects

Archive projects instead of deleting them, restore archived work, and move projects between your personal space and teams.

Instant lets you pause work on a project without losing it, and organize projects across your personal space and teams.

Archive vs delete

Project settings has no permanent delete action. Instead, you Archive a project:

  • Archived projects move to your archived projects and are marked with an Archived badge in the project switcher.

  • The project becomes uneditable—you cannot change layouts or publish.

  • Your work is kept, and you can Restore the project at any time.

Archiving is useful when a store is paused, a client engagement ends, or you want to tidy your project list without losing work.

Archive a project

  1. Open the project in the builder.

  2. Go to Settings → General (or Project settings from the builder menu).

  3. Scroll to the Archive project card. It reads "Move this project to your archived projects. This will make the project uneditable."

  4. Click Archive.

  5. In the confirmation dialog, click Archive to confirm.

Restore an archived project

  1. Open the archived project (it still appears in your project switcher with an Archived badge).

  2. Go to Settings → General.

  3. In the Restore project card, click Restore.

The project returns to your active projects and you can edit and publish again.

Move a project into a team

A project can belong to only one team at a time. To move a personal project into a team:

  1. Go to Settings → General for that project.

  2. In the Move project card, click Move project.

  3. In the Move project to a team dialog, select a team under Select team and click Move project.

You can move projects to teams you own or admin. If you have no teams yet, Instant sends you to create one first.

Remove a project from a team

When a project already belongs to a team, the card title becomes Remove project from team:

  1. Go to Settings → General.

  2. Click Remove project.

  3. In the Remove from team dialog, click Remove.

The team loses access to the project, but the project itself continues to exist under its owner.

Bulk move projects into a team

Move several projects into a team at once from team settings:

  1. Go to Team settings → General for the team.

  2. In the Move projects card, click Move projects.

  3. Select the projects to add and confirm.

You can only move projects you have access to, and a project cannot belong to more than one team at a time.
