Translation App Compatibility

Instant supports all major translation apps within the Shopify ecosystem, including Shopify's native Translate & Adapt app.

Enabling Shopify Markets

Step 1: Open the Layouts Panel

Navigate to the Layouts panel within the Builder.

Step 2: Access Layout Settings

Click the more options button (three dots) on the layout you want to enable Shopify Markets for. Select the appropriate settings option:

  • Page Settings (for pages)

  • Product Template Settings (for product templates)

  • Blog Item Settings (for blog items)

Step 3: Enable Shopify Markets

  1. Select the Advanced tab within the settings panel

  2. Toggle Shopify Markets to enabled

Note: Sections have Shopify Markets enabled by default. This is required to allow sections to be used on multiple pages with different content for each instance.

Managing Content with Shopify Markets

When Shopify Markets is enabled, content management changes after your first publish.

Content Management Location

After publishing your layout for the first time with Shopify Markets enabled:

  • All text content is managed in the Shopify Theme Customizer

  • All link settings are managed in the Shopify Theme Customizer

Accessing the Shopify Theme Customizer

  1. In Shopify, navigate to Online Store

  2. Click the Customize button

Editing Content

  1. Select your layout within the Shopify Customizer

  2. All input fields appear in the right side panel (left on smaller screens)

Overwriting Shopify Content

You can reset content from the Shopify Customizer and replace it with content defined in Instant.

How to Overwrite

  1. Open the layout in Instant Builder

  2. Locate the Overwrite Shopify Content option

  3. Click to proceed

Your Shopify content will now be replaced with the content set in Instant.

Warning: When overwriting content, you also remove any translations currently defined for that layout. Translations will need to be recreated after overwriting.

Localizing Content

To complete your multilingual store setup, content must be translated within Shopify.

Translating Layouts

  1. Open the Shopify Theme Customizer

  2. Select the layout you want to translate

  3. In the top navigation bar, select the market you want to translate for
