Instant gives you a few related ways to show multiple items in a sliding layout: Carousel, Slideshow, and Gallery. All of them use the same underlying slider, but each preset ships with different defaults so you can pick the pattern that fits your section without rebuilding it from scratch.
Add a slider from Insert
Open the Insert panel from the left sidebar.
If the panel is showing templates, click Switch to elements.
Open the Advanced category and expand Interactive.
Click or drag one of the presets onto the canvas:
Carousel — shows several slides at once, with previous/next buttons and pagination dots.
Slideshow — shows one centered slide at a time, ideal for hero banners.
Gallery — a main slider paired with clickable thumbnails. There are horizontal and vertical gallery presets.
Understand the layer structure
In the Layouts & layers panel, expand your slider to find:
Slider — the outer container that wraps everything.
Slides — the slider layer that holds the individual slides. This is where the slider's behavior settings live.
Slide — each item in the sequence. Duplicate or delete slides here to change how many appear.
Controls — holds the Navigation buttons (Previous and Next) and the pagination dots.
Select any layer to style it in the design panel. Edit slide content — images, text, buttons — by selecting the nodes inside each Slide.
Configure slider behavior
Select the Slides layer to access these settings:
Direction — horizontal or vertical.
Align — how slides align across the track.
Snapping — where slides settle when scrolling stops: Start, Center, or None.
Gap — space between slides.
Animation — Speed, Loop, Autoplay, and (when autoplay is on) Delay between transitions.
Slide size — how many slides are visible at once, with per-breakpoint values.
The Slides layer also has an Overflow setting (Visible or Hidden) that controls whether content outside the track is clipped.
Use the Preview control in the design panel to step through slides with the arrow buttons or jump to one with the Go to menu while you design. Style the Navigation buttons and the pagination dots separately under Controls.
Product and collection sliders
You don't have to build product media sliders from scratch. Under Insert the Shopify category includes Gallery presets for product pages and a Carousel preset for collections. These bind to Shopify product media or collection products automatically, so the slides update as your catalog changes.
Tips
Use Carousel when you want a product row or logo strip with several visible items.
Use Slideshow for full-width hero content where one message should dominate.
Use Gallery when shoppers need to browse many images and jump directly to one via thumbnails.
Check smaller breakpoints after changing Slide size — a three-up carousel on desktop often works better as one or two slides on mobile.
