The Insert panel is the fastest way to add content to a layout. Open it from the left sidebar on the canvas (Alt+Shift+1) or search "Insert" in the command palette (Ctrl+K / Cmd+K).
Templates and elements
Insert has two modes. The button at the top of the panel switches between them — it reads Switch to elements or Switch to templates depending on which mode you're in.
Templates — Prebuilt sections and full-page layouts you add as a starting point, then customize. Click to insert them into your layout.
Elements — Individual building blocks such as text, buttons, images, and product cards. Drag them onto the canvas when you want to build a section piece by piece.
Template Library
On the Templates mode you'll see shortcut cards — Landing pages, Theme sections, Product pages, Collection pages, Cart drawers, and Navigations — that open the Template Library at the matching type. You can also open the library with the Template Library button at the bottom of the panel, the Cmd+O / Ctrl+O shortcut, or from the Add layout menu.
The library opens as a modal titled Templates, with search, filters (Category, Collection, and Industry), and tabs by layout type: Sections, Pages, Product, Collection, Blog, Navigations, Carts, and Elements. Click a template to add it — Instant inserts sections and elements into your current layout, or creates a new layout for a full page, template, blog post, navigation, or cart. See The template library for details.
Element categories
On the Elements mode, blocks are grouped into four categories:
Structure — Grids, columns, and rows. Start here when building a section from scratch; structure elements define how other content is arranged.
Basics — Text, images, and buttons. The workhorses of most pages.
Shopify — Store-connected blocks: product elements, variant pickers, collection grids, and cart elements. They pull live data from your Shopify store.
Advanced — Interactive elements, navigation menus, app blocks, and custom embeds for richer experiences and third-party integrations.
Click a category to expand it, then drag the element you need onto the canvas.
Add elements by drag-and-drop
Elements are added by dragging them onto the canvas (clicking an element shows a reminder to drag it instead):
Click and hold an element.
Drag it onto the canvas.
Drop indicators show where it will land — inside a grid cell, between rows, or as a new section.
Release to place it.
Add content with Instant AI
You don't have to build everything manually. Open the Agent panel and describe what you need — for example, "Add a hero section with a headline and CTA." Instant AI adds and arranges content for you. Review the result on the canvas and adjust in the design panel.
Inserting on smaller breakpoints
If you insert content while viewing a breakpoint other than Desktop (Laptop, Tablet, or Mobile), Instant warns you that the change applies only at that screen size. For sections and elements that should appear everywhere, switch to Desktop first, add the content, then refine the smaller breakpoints.
