Team membership controls who can see team projects, manage team settings, and manage template listings.
When you need a team
Teams are mainly useful when you manage multiple projects — for example, an agency building for several clients, or a store with a few separate projects. A team lets you grant people access to all of its projects at once instead of inviting them to each one.
If you only have a single project, you don't need a team. Invite collaborators directly to that project from its Members page instead. See Project members and roles.
Roles on a team
Role | What they can do |
Owner | Full control of the team, including transferring ownership and deleting the team. One owner per team, and the person who creates the team starts as Owner. |
Admin | Manage team settings, members, and projects. In the role menu: "Can manage project & team". |
Editor | Work in the builder on team projects. In the role menu: "Can create in the builder". |
Only Owners and Admins can invite members or change roles.
Open team members
Go to Team settings → Members for your team (/settings/team/your-handle/members). You can also invite people during team creation on the Invite step.
Invite people
On the Members page, click Invite people.
Enter email addresses separated by commas (maximum 10 at a time).
Choose Admin or Editor.
Click Send invite.
When inviting during team setup, use Send invite on the Invite step, or Skip to continue without inviting. Owners are not assigned through the invite form—the team creator is the initial Owner, and ownership transfers separately (below).
Resend an invite
For members who have not accepted:
Open the ⋯ menu on their row.
Click Resend invite.
Change a member's role
Click the role dropdown on a member's row.
Choose Admin or Editor.
Transfer team ownership
To make another member the team owner:
Open the role dropdown for that member.
Select Owner ("Can manage settings").
In the Transfer ownership dialog, type the team slug exactly as shown.
Click Transfer ownership.
You become an Admin after transferring, and the new owner must have accepted their invite first.
Remove a member or leave the team
Owners and Admins can remove others: open the ⋯ menu on the member's row and choose Remove from project.
If you are not the owner, open the ⋯ menu on your own row and choose Leave. You can also leave from My account → Teams using Leave team. Leaving removes your access to all projects in that team.
How team roles relate to projects
Team members see projects that belong to the team. Each project also has its own member list and can grant the team a role (Admin or Editor) via Anyone in [team name] on the project Members page. For day-to-day collaboration, add people to the team so they can access team projects, then fine-tune access on individual projects if needed. See Project members and roles.
