The template library

Browse curated starter layouts in the Template Library to jump-start pages, sections, templates, and more.

The Template Library is Instant's collection of curated starter layouts. Instead of building from a blank canvas, you browse designed templates for sections, pages, product and collection templates, blog posts, navigation, and carts — then customize them to match your brand.

Open the Template Library

You can reach the Template Library from several places:

  • Insert panel → TemplatesTemplate Library button

  • Cmd+O (Mac) or Ctrl+O (Windows)

  • The Add layout menu, when creating a new layout

  • The templates cards on the project overview

The library opens as a full modal titled Templates, with search, filters, and tabs.

Browse by type

Tabs organize templates by layout type:

  • Sections

  • Pages

  • Product

  • Collection

  • Blog

  • Navigations

  • Carts

  • Elements

The Elements tab is available when you have a layout open (except on a cart).

Filter and search

Narrow results with filters in the left panel — Category, Collection, and Industry — and use the search box at the top. The All and Saved filters switch between every template and the ones you have saved.

Use a template

Click a template to add it. For a full layout type (page, product template, collection template, blog post, navigation, or cart), Instant creates a new layout and opens it in the builder. For a section or element added while a layout is open, Instant inserts it into your current layout. Either way, replace the placeholder content and adjust styling to match your brand.

You don't have to edit everything by hand: once a template is added, open the Agent panel and describe the changes you want — for example, swapping the layout to match your product or rewriting the copy — and Instant AI refines it for you. See Edit with AI.

Templates do not auto-publish. After customizing, publish the layout like any design you create from scratch.

Templates and plans

Publishing the layout you create still follows that layout type's plan requirements — for example, product page and collection templates and headers and footers require the Starter plan or higher, and carts require the Pro plan or higher. See How publishing works.

Template Library vs the Insert panel

The Insert panel has a toggle between Templates and Elements:

  • Templates — pre-built section blocks you add to your current layout, plus the Template Library button for full starter layouts.

  • Elements — individual building blocks (text, images, grids, Shopify components).

Use the Template Library when starting a new layout; use the Insert panel when adding blocks to a layout you are already editing.
