Instant is built for teams. Multiple people can open the same project at once, see each other's presence, and edit together in real time — with clear roles for who can change the storefront and who can only view.
Real-time editing
When you and a teammate edit the same layout, changes appear on both screens within moments. There's no manual refresh or merge step — autosave keeps everyone's work in sync through Instant's live connection.
Use undo for your own recent changes if needed; it doesn't revert a teammate's work.
Presence and avatars
On the canvas, colored avatars in the header show who else is in the project. Hover an avatar to see the person's name or email. Avatars appear once the page has finished loading.
Click another person's avatar to jump to their viewport — Instant pans and zooms your canvas to match where they're looking, on the same layout and breakpoint. This is helpful for design reviews and pair editing without sharing your screen.
Live cursors
When teammates work on the same layout, you see their presence on the canvas in real time, each with a distinct color. Presence lines up when you're both:
On the canvas (not in Overview).
Viewing the same layout.
At the same breakpoint (Desktop, Tablet, and so on).
If you switch layouts or breakpoints, teammates on a different view are hidden until you match again.
Instant AI as a collaborator
When Instant AI is working on your page from the Agent panel, it appears on the canvas as a collaborator, marking the elements it's building or editing. It behaves like another team member while the Agent is active, but doesn't take up an avatar in the header.
Invite teammates
Teammates are added from the members settings page. Click the + button next to the avatars in the header (Invite members) to go straight there, or open Settings → Members. Then click Invite people, enter one or more emails (comma separated), pick a role (Admin or Editor), and click Send invite.
Share project in the header menu is different — it creates a public link that lets other Instant users preview and duplicate a copy of the project. It doesn't add anyone to your team. See Share and duplicate projects.
Tips for smooth collaboration
Communicate before large structural changes — undo is personal, but real-time sync means your teammate sees changes immediately.
Invite stakeholders as Editors from Settings → Members so they can collaborate, or use Share project to send a preview-and-duplicate link to people outside your team.
Click a teammate's avatar during a review to follow their focus instead of describing where to scroll.
