New to Instant? Work through the steps below to go from a fresh account to a published layout on your Shopify storefront. Each step links to a detailed guide.
Your setup checklist
Create your account — Sign up with email or Google and sign in with a magic link. See Create your account and sign in.
Connect your Shopify store — Install the Instant app and grant permissions so Instant can use your products and publish to your theme. See Connect your Shopify store.
Enable Instant Embed — Turn on the Instant app embed in your Shopify theme so pages and sections load faster. See Enable the Instant app embed.
Build your first page — Choose Build with AI (Recommended), give the Agent a prompt or visual reference, then review, select, edit, and preview the result on the canvas. See Build your first page.
Publish — Push your layout live to your Shopify theme. See Publish your first page.
Guided setup for new projects
When you create your first project, Instant walks you through a short setup: it asks a few questions about your store, then lets you choose how to start.
After setup, opening a project with no layouts shows How would you like to start? Choose Build with AI (Recommended), Choose a Template, or Build from Scratch. The Agent is the recommended path. Build from Scratch opens a blank canvas for drag-and-drop elements.
The Agent builds directly on the visual canvas. Build from Scratch also uses the canvas, but the two approaches cannot be combined in the same layout. See Build your first page for details.
