Pages are the most flexible layout type in Instant. Use them for landing pages, brand stories, campaign pages, and any standalone content that does not fit a product or collection layout. You can also set a page as your store's home page, replacing the homepage from your Shopify theme.
Create a page
Open the Layouts & layers panel and click +, then choose Page — or use the Add layout menu. Instant asks how you'd like to start: build with Instant AI (describe what you want and the Agent generates it), pick a starter design from the Template Library, or start from a blank canvas.
Once the page is open, add content through the Insert panel. The layers section of Layouts & layers shows the element tree for your page.
Page settings
Open the page, then click the gear icon next to the layout name in the top header to open Page settings. The General tab includes:
Name — the label shown inside Instant
Handle — the URL slug (for example,
/pages/about-us)Set as home page — replaces your theme's homepage
Shopify navigation — show or hide your theme header and footer on this page
When a page is your home page, the Handle field is disabled because the page lives at your store's root URL.
Set your home page
To make a page your storefront homepage:
Open Page settings for the page.
On the General tab, click Set as home page and confirm.
Publish the page.
Your store's root URL then serves this Instant page instead of your theme's homepage. In the Pages group, the home page shows a home icon and is sorted to the top.
Publishing a page as your home page requires the Starter plan or higher. On the Free plan, the Set as home page control shows a Starter badge and prompts you to upgrade.
To go back to your theme's homepage, open Page settings and choose Restore original home page.
SEO for pages
Non-home pages have an SEO tab in page settings where you set the title and description, with a live search preview. The home page does not have an SEO tab — manage homepage SEO in Shopify. See SEO settings.
Shopify navigation on pages
Under Shopify navigation on the General tab, toggle whether your theme Header and Footer appear on this page. Turn them off for full-bleed landing pages; leave them on for pages that should match the rest of your storefront.
Preview and publish
Use the builder preview to check your page at different screen sizes. When you are ready, click Publish in the header bar. If Instant Embed is not enabled on your theme, Instant prompts you to turn it on during publish. After publishing, open View live page from the publish menu to see the page on your storefront.
